Conjunction連接詞: and, but, so, because

Conjunction是用於將其他單詞、短語和從句連接在一起的詞。


And: 類似中文的「和」，用於兩者情況相似的時候。

舉例︰

  • He’s 10 and she’s 12.


  • Tim usually practices the piano and plays football at weekend.



But: 相當於中文的「但是」，用於前後意思相反的情況。


舉例︰

  • I love ice cream but he loves apples.


  • My sister is tall but I am short.



So: 類似中文的「所以」，帶出句子中的因果關係。


舉例︰

  • My knee started hurting so I stopped running.


  • I was lost so I bought a street map.


Because: 與中文的「因為」一樣意思，用於解釋一些原因。


舉例︰

  • She doesn’t go to school because she’s sick.


  • Kate was happy because she won the competition.
